ACCOUNTING MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
SUMMARY:
As the Accounting Manager, you will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Qualified candidates will successfully support the Director of Finance in the day-to-day operation of the department.
- Oversees Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Reconciliations.
- Utilizes Accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
- Support all aspects of Accounting Management (billing, tax forms, reporting, etc.)
- Assists in the formulation and verification of internal controls and policies to comply with company requirements.
- Assists in preparing financial statements in compliance with company guidelines and requirements.
- Manage journal entries, invoices, and other items to reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing.
- Oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the Guest Ledger
- Posts Accounts Payable invoices
- Assists the Director of Finance with the preparation of the budget and forecasts
- Reviews the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve any inaccuracies or imbalances
- Has full knowledge of Accounts Receivables, Liens, Lien releases, and collection procedures
- Strong knowledge of Accounting principles and understanding of all Accounting areas (such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, and Payroll)
- Assists the Controller or Director of Finance with bank statements, sales, occupancy taxes, corporate reporting requirements, budgeting and monthly financial preparation, credit card reconciliation, and cash deposit reconciliation.
- Assists in the maintenance of internal Accounting controls
- Conducts internal audits whenever necessary
- Conducts bank/reference checks for any direct billing requests
- Conducts house-bank audits monthly to review banks belonging to Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty/Front Office Agents/Night Auditors
- Must be able to perform any other duties assigned by Management

- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in verbal and written English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.

- Have superb time management skills.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
- Ability to comply with the physical requirements as outlined below.
- Technologically sound with Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule to include Overnights/Weekends and Holidays
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 12 months of experience in an accounting role. Additional hotel experience preferred. College degree preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to areas where under certain use of Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical hotel environment. - Sit, walk and stand continuously.
- Lift/carry 10 pounds (frequently) and 25 pounds (occasionally)
- Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
- Use dominant hand coordination to simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery
