JOB SUMMARY:
At In-Shape our Assistant General Manager (AGM) assists the General Manager in supporting and providing a best-in-class experience through their leadership in club. Assist in promoting the In-Shape brand by engaging and motivating club guests and potential members to join the club, use the club, and remain a member. They assist members in achieving their health and fitness goals making every member’s day better. The AGM ensures that In-Shape provides an environment that is clean, safe, and enjoyable for members and team members. They contribute to the success and profitability of the club through leadership and member service that achieves positive member and employee retention, drives sales efforts and controls operating expenses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provide a safe and well-maintained environment through correct implementation of safety and operating policies and procedures
- Assist in building our In-Shape community of members through a consistent member experience
- Assist in creating team member behaviors to increase Net Memberships through achieving goals, improving retention, and driving ancillary revenue
- Partner with General Manager to support membership sales growth. Help drive sales, especially during weekends. Work with Member Experience Ambassadors to ensure understanding of sales process
- Develop/Review club schedules to ensure they are within the budgeted guidelines. Provide optimum scheduling and coverage as to provide an excellent member experience. Ensure all schedules are entered and maintained in club timekeeping system
- Assist the General Manager to achieve club financial performance
- Assist in identifying positive trends and areas of opportunity
- Manage supplies inventory to ensure the Club maintains proper stock levels. Maintain expense control of supplies
- Serve as an ambassador for the team and communicate feedback from the field to General Manager
- Understand club operations and able to assist or give direction when necessary and in the absence of the General Manager, train staff on operational functions of the club
- Assist the General Manager with hiring and training new team members
- Assist with successful execution of marketing initiatives, programs and social media accounts at the club level to generate retention and conversion
- Assist in building our In-Shape community of members through a consistent member experience
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned

Requirements:REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS – HERE’S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- 1-2 years management experience highly desired
- High School Diploma or GED required, college degree in business, retail or hospitality desired
- Passion for helping others achieve their goals
- Desired knowledge, experience, and understanding of fitness including equipment, personal training, and group fitness
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Risk Management oriented
- Flexible/positive attitude in meeting and exceeding members expectations
- Excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and time constraints and displays positive behavior in all member contacts
- Outstanding organization and strong time management skills
- Excellent task completion and follow-through
- Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed
- Ability to travel up to 5%
- Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Bilingual skills a plus
- Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day; sitting is seldom to occasional. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Team members are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasional reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
During the COVID-19 pandemic: All In-Shape Team Members may be required to assist with greeting members to perform temperature checks and health screens, ensure members practice physical distancing and monitor cleaning of equipment after each use. Detailed instructions will be provided at time of hire.
In-Shape Team Members will be required to comply with company policies regarding the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), by following instructions and outlined safety guidelines, to protect our team and club members. Club Safety training and equipment will be provided. Team Members are to report to management, or designated team member, any safety risks or potential risks identified in the work environment.
