TASKS AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Store Manager making sure all

shifts are covered and the store is fully operational during business hours

Make sure customer sales are rung in

properly in a friendly and cheerful and helpful manner.

Demonstrates an understanding of the

products we sell.

Understands the Gilbarco Point of Sale

system/cash register used to ring up gasoline, cigarettes, beer, wine and other

purchases such that customer sales are properly entered and paid for.

Understands cash-in/out procedures-

accounting for all forms of money, during various shifts.

Ensures cigarettes and tobacco, store

shelves, coolers and back stock, are filled.

Checks that inside and outside trash is

removed, boxes are broken down and placed in recycling.

Manages coffee service including set up

and break down depending on shift worked.

Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of all

areas of the store to promote a clean image and that public restrooms are

maintained. (Currently closed due to

Covid 19 concerns).

Maintains a professional appearance and

grooming standards. (Uniform shirts provided free of charge)

Performs light paperwork duties as

assigned.

Completes State of Vermont liquor

training course as directed.

Makes sure IDs are checked in accordance

with State of Vermont regulations.

Work front line at the register as needed

and be able to perform all tasks required of a trained cashier.

PREREQUISITES:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience &

Skills: Previous convenience store or management experience required. That

being said a proven ability to understand written and verbal instruction is

needed.

• Physical: Must be

able to work any area of the store when needed and to operate a computerized

Point of Sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing, and

walking the entire workday in addition to light paperwork. Must have the

ability to lift 20 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.

Alpine Mart is a Valero gas station on Mountain Rd, but inside the convenience store is a Subway we own and operate, and also a solid beer selection ranging from the usual mass-market selections like Budweiser to the more local craft breweries.

Pay: $21 / hour
