Assist in managing subordinates in their daily activities.- Review performance evaluations of all division employees. Evaluate performance of direct reports.
- Visit job sites; check for progress and compliance with City standards, rules and regulations. Implement and enforce City policies and procedures. Issue staff commendations and recommend discipline as needed.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with division employees, consultants, developers, private firms and other City staff.
- Assist with purchases through computer system.
- Attend various meetings as assigned
- Respond to customer complaints and questions.
- Assist with preparing and managing the division's budget including monitoring expenditures, budget transfers and purchase requisitions.
- Perform all functions and responsibilities according to the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics and Florida State Statutes 112.313.
- Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by schooling in water and wastewater, management courses, lift stations, mechanics and electricity.
- Six (6) years supervisory experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of public utilities infrastructure
Must possess these licenses/certifications:
- Level II or higher State of Florida Water Distribution Systems Operator License.
- Class "A" Wastewater Collection certification
- Backflow prevention certification and/or Cross Connection Control Certification
- "C" Certification in Industrial Pretreatment (IPP) or be able to provide within 1 year.
- Florida DOT approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) intermediate qualification.
- A valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record.

A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with both hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, bend and lift. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Works inside and outside. Works at depths (up to 30 feet). May work in strong odors and severe weather conditions.
