Associate Finance

Our firm has been retained by a prominent owner/developer of multi-family properties to recruit and hire an Associate, Finance. The preferred location is Washington, DC, but candidates who are willing to be based in Jersey City (metro NYC area) will also be considered. The position reports to the Senior Managing Director of Finance. Key responsibilities include assisting senior members of the finance team in sourcing, negotiating, closing, and managing debt financing for properties across all geographic regions where the firm has a presence.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate, Finance will help source negotiate, close and manage financings. More specifically, they will:

· Help develop and maintain relationships with providers of debt financing

· Assist in sourcing, negotiation and closing financing

· Assist development team in preparing debt financing strategies by providing financial comparisons of the cost/benefits of each through excel modeling

· Prepare and distribute financing through solicitation packages

· Assist the Capital Markets team with financing conversations with equity partners

· Write Investment Committee Meeting memos as requested and review all memos for accuracy

· Participate in refinancing conversations and with extensions/modifications of development loans

· Provide debt and equity information to Asset Management as requested, and work with them to track interim property tests, guaranty burn-offs, loan extensions and other information required to monitor portfolio properly and proactively

· Assist in sourcing and closing bridge/permanent debt for unsold assets

· Assist with sale of development assets as needed

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Minimum of 4 years finance experience with at least two years of direct experience negotiating and closing real estate debt financing
  • Multi-family experience preferred
  • Experience with construction lending a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and keen detail orientation
  • Negotiating experience with capital sources
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop,communicate and focus on critical issues in complex financial situations
  • Strong team player who can work across a firm organized along both functional and geographic lines
  • Undergraduate degree required;MBA a plus
  • Formal Credit training at major commercial bank a plus
  • Uncompromising personal integrity
  • Tenacious in meeting deadlines; strong sense of urgency; outstanding ability to self-manage
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage through conflict and positively influence results
  • Comfort level working in demanding, and occasionally high- pressured environment

COMPENSATION

The Associate, Finance must be a high performing professional with broad experience and proven financial skills to effectively perform the role as outlined. As such, the compensation plan for this individual will be commensurate with the skills required of the position and will be negotiated to attract exceptional candidates. Compensation will be comprised of a base salary plus bonus based on firm and individual performance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
