June Shelton School & Evaluation Center enjoys the distinction of being the world’s largest independent school for bright children with learning differences. Founded in 1976, Shelton is dedicated to making a difference by serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, all open to the community—a speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program. Shelton is actively involved with research and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Shelton School is a co-educational, non-sectarian school that serves approximately 900 students with learning differences in grades EC to 12. The Shelton School is accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).
Position Overview: The Computer Systems Specialist works as part of an ambitious team to develop, maintain, and innovate technology at Shelton School. This includes hardware selection, acquisition, and maintenance, network security and maintenance, and day-to-day end user assistance. The Technology department is a fun and fast paced environment comprised of individuals with a passion for supporting end users with varied skill sets.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of macOS and a working knowledge of Windows 10.
- Working knowledge of networking, mobile device management (e.g. JAMF), and scripting languages such as Python.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the organization; an inquisitive mindset and ability to assess and initiate things independently.
- Ability to manage multiple functions, activities, and projects; prioritize duties to ensure timely completion
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment.

Support
- Provide on-demand hardware and software support to Shelton staff and students.
- Maintain and upgrade various hardware and software.
- Maintain accurate user and asset records, including support/repair records.
- Handle setup and breakdown of computer equipment.
- Research and keep abreast of current technologies and suggest changes, as appropriate.
- Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
- Evaluate current processes to innovate new and better ways to handle on-going tasks.
- Handle scripting for equipment and device configuration.
- Maintain detailed written hardware/software documentation.
- Handle ad hoc data requests and reporting.
- Assist in planning for next generation systems and equipment.
- Provide backup support to the AV Department, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Instruction
- Assist with staff training for both new and returning staff.
- Assist with Summer School computer training for new Middle and Upper School students
