Construction Project Supervisor

- Consults with technical staff, consultants, contractors and other agencies to expedite the completion of construction projects for highways and bridges.
- Supervises the field inspection of one or more projects including assigning and reviewing the work, training, evaluating work performance and providing technical guidance.
- Reviews and evaluates construction schedules and recommends adjustments to problems arising during construction.
- Analyzes potential delays and claims, recommending appropriate action.
- Schedules and conducts pre-construction and progress meetings.
- Recommends solutions to problems arising during construction.
- Utilizes computer and business software packages to prepare correspondence relating to projects, manage project workflow and maintain project records.
- Performs related work as required.
- Work effectively with others.
- Understand and follow instructions.
- Work in various weather conditions and terrains and will be available nights and weekends as needed
- High school graduate or possession of a State high school equivalence certificate
- 11 years of experience in inspection of highway and/or bridge construction.
- MARTCP Certifications
- OSHA 10 and E&S Certifications
- Prior experience with MDOT SHA/MDTA recommended.
- Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and materials.
- Knowledge of inspection methods.
- Ability to deal effectively with contractors, engineers, architects and representatives of utility and government agencies.
- Supervisory ability.
- Working knowledge of state and federal safety, environment guidelines and regulations.
- Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment; read and interpret roadway plans and contract specifications; maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with agency, contractor personnel and the public.
- Dependable transportation is required.
- Knowledge of field inspection equipment; ability to read and interpret roadway plans and contract specifications; and maintain detailed records.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient in math and English.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- College Degree
