Position Summary:

  • Supervise, instruct and monitor all waitstaff in the Upper and Lower Abbott Dining Rooms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Host/Hostess duties on scheduled meal periods.
  • Assists in maintaining proper staffing levels in the absence of the Assistant Director.
  • Assists the Dining Room Manager in training of waitstaff and communication of service standard.
  • Coordinates with nursing staff, dietician and kitchen staff regarding changes in therapeutic diets, meal choices and meal pack.
  • Provides telephone coverage for department and assists with reservations and other areas as needed.
  • Assists in the set up and planning of private parties and special organizational functions.
  • Communicates with housekeeping and plant operations departments to coordinate necessary services to maintain high standards of service.
  • Communicates any problems/complaints regarding resident dining service to Director, Assistant Director or Head * Chef and assists with providing resolution.
  • Assists with department Quality Assurance studies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective communication with staff, residents and families
  • Professional office dress attire required
  • Must be customer service excellence oriented

Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Supervisory experience a must
  • 1 year + in customer service/hospitality position that requires clear communication with residents/office staff, and personal interface with residents, visitors. vendors and contractors
