PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director of Sports Engagement will develop, drive and execute ADL’s strategy for engagement with the sports industry. Sitting in the Brand & Marketing department, this role will be the in-house expert on all things sports industry and coordinate efforts across the organization, both at the national and regional level, to share best practices and expand our work in this space. This role is ideal for someone interested in marrying the incredible platform and power of sports with ADL’s mission and work to fight antisemitism and all forms of hate.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • Develop and execute an overarching strategy for ADL’s engagements with the sports industry.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of and communications with the ADL Sports Leadership Council.
  • Create a process for best practice sharing across ADL national and regional offices including developing case studies for internal and external use.
  • Act as an internal consultant for national, regional and international engagements with the sports industry.
  • Partner with ADL’s education team on the development and distribution of antisemitism trainings and educational materials specific to all levels of sport.
  • Develop and manage awareness, engagement and advocacy campaigns for and with ADL’s partners across the industry.
  • Steward and build upon ADL’s existing relationships with athletes and sports influencers.
  • Manage all programming at a national level that touches on themes of sport.
  • Oversee and manage research efforts to produce external-facing reports on best practices in addressing antisemitism and hate through sport.
Secondary:
  • In partnership with the VP, Brand & Marketing, craft strategies for ADL’s work in assisting sports organizations in the wake of antisemitic or hate-fueled incidents.
  • Partner with the development team on fundraising strategies around sports organizations and efforts.
  • Lead efforts on any convenings that involve ADL and members of the sports industry.
Qualifications:
Skills:
  • Expertise in the sports industry and social responsibility efforts within the industry.
  • A demonstrated interest in ADL’s mission and social justice
  • Experience engaging stakeholders with myriad backgrounds and perspectives around common concerns and building meaningful and effective partnerships
  • Proven track record of leading successful multi-stakeholder projects to completion
  • A respectful and collaborative working style
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple departments
  • Proven ability to work with C-suite and executives
  • Experience with marketing, in particular, campaign development
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including public speaking

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has extensive work experience in the sports industry with a demonstrable progression in skills and responsibility including marketing or advertising
  • Research experience a plus
  • Experience with influencers, athletes and celebrities a plus
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required

Work Environment:

  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation:
  • This position has a salary range of $98,000 to $135,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
