POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Facilities Technician I

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Perform a variety of maintenance duties at Clearwater Marine Aquarium and offsite locations. Skillful in handling preventative maintenance, basic repairs, cosmetic upkeep, and simple equipment installations. Ability to handle power tools and some maintenance related machinery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Complete daily work orders and projects as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
• Replace light bulbs, light ballasts, ceiling tiles, and HVAC filters.
• Basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, masonry, mechanical, and painting.
• Install decorations and banners multiple times of the year for various departments within CMA.
• Coordinate projects and repairs with other departments to provide a safe working environment for all staff, guests, and animals.
• Fabricate various materials to safely achieve assigned work orders
• Operate heavy equipment in a safe manner to perform daily assigned work orders.
• Properly and safely provide preventative maintenance on all facilities related equipment
• Operate heavy equipment when necessary.
• Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
• Provide excellent customer service to all staff, guests, and volunteers, while performing daily assigned duties.
• Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or GED
• Valid FL driver license
• A minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar role.
• Basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, HVAC, and carpentry skills.
• Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
• Extremely organized with good communication skills.
• Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, afterhours, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift up to 50lbs to waist level - Frequently.
• Lift up to 20lbs to shoulders and above head Frequently.
• Walk/stand for long periods of time - Frequently.
• Maneuver safely on uneven terrain or in tight spaces - Frequently.
• Safely climb ladders when needed Frequently.
• Squat, bend, kneel, twist and reach - Frequently.
• Reach above the shoulders - Frequently.
• Push and pull larger equipment Frequently.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to changing weather Frequently.
• Work indoors, under cover without air conditioning or heat Frequently.
