Histology Technician
Charlottesville, VA

MUST:
Experienced Histology Technician
1 plus years of experience as a Histology Technician
Must have ASCP HT or HTL or be certification eligible. Proof of eligibility required prior to date of employment.
Must demonstrated accuracy and precision in cutting, mounting and staining of tissue sections
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have knowledge of basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information required

DUTIES:
The Histotech will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Maintains processors, microtomes, stainers and coverslipping machines
Performs frozen section procedures as needed
Conducts hazardous waste control and proper disposal of all biohazardous materials and chemically hazardous materials
Performs IHC testing using the Leica Bond III
Handles send out preparations, quality control paperwork, and system documentation
Prepares reagents
Labels slides and distributes cases to pathologists
Other duties as assigned
