Morning, Daytime and Evening Positions Available - Come join the most fun restaurant team in town.
The Nook is the premiere breakfast and lunch spot in Charlottesville. Positions also available now as we open again for dinner several nights a week. Our kitchen staff is looking to expand and bring on some talented and earnest individuals interested in making a difference. We have the following openings:
- Daytime hours (Breakfast and Lunch)
- In 2 months, Evening hours. Dinner will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 5PM to 9:30PM
Our ideal candidate for the job has a passion for food, is earnest and open to feedback and direction, and has a positive outlook and demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow Chef's instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
