Catholic Charities, founded in 1903, is one of the largest and most well respected social service agencies in Boston with over 20 locations in the Greater Boston area. Our service sites throughout Eastern Massachusetts helped 175,000 of our neediest neighbors of all faiths last year.
We are currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician.
The Maintenance Technician works closely with the Real Estate and Facilities Manager to support Catholic Charities’ real estate portfolio, including shelter programs operating 24 hours per day, childcare facilities, and large multi-service center sites. The Maintenance Technician will work with contractors, vendors, Catholic Charities’ office managers, program and an internal maintenance team to address building system needs, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment. Supervises and performs maintenance and repairs related to buildings, grounds, and equipment, in one or more areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, and grounds.
Qualifications include
- Technical school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of five years of property or facilities management experience in commercial buildings.
- Must be organized and task oriented, able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- High quality phone skills and timely follow up with email and phone inquiries from staff, vendors and external business associates.
- Knowledge of building safety and fire codes, and ADA compliance.
- Ability to write and communicate effectively in English, bilingual ability a plus.
- Effective interpersonal listening and speaking skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with all levels of employees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Knowledge and prior use of Excel and data base management preferred.
- Keen attention to detail, ability to organize, establish objectives and priorities, achieve goals and meet deadlines. Analytical thinker with confident decision making.
- Interest and ability to work with a multi-region organization and commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities.
- Available for on call work to help answer questions or be present at work sites during hours outside of the normal business day and weekends as needed.
- Willing to travel regionally for work related activities including meetings and events.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle work related travel.
