Scott Hill Retirement Community, located in Clifton Forge, VA, is a 140-unit, independent living community for seniors 62 and older. Scott Hill is currently recruiting an individual with the ability and desire to work with the Senior population, less than 10 hours a week, in a part-time position.

Requirements:

Must have a good driving record. The definition of a good driving record is: “A driver can certify that, during the last ten (10) years or if the driver has held the license for less than ten (10) years then from time of initial licensure he/she:

• Has not had more than one license;
• Has not had any license suspended, revoked, or canceled;
• Has not had any convictions in any type of motor vehicle for major disqualifying offenses:
• More than one serious traffic violations within a 3-year period. These include excessive speeding, reckless driving, improper or erratic lane changes, following the vehicle ahead too closely.
• Traffic offenses in connection with fatal traffic accidents
• Driving under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol; or  Leaving the scene of an accident, or using a vehicle to commit a felony.
• Read and adhere to the Van/Minibus Operation and Driver Qualifications Policies.
• Drives the property vehicle when assigned.
• Inspects vehicle prior to each and every operation. This would include checking oil and other fluids, tires for proper inflation and wear, wiper blades and checking for proper operation of lights, brakes and safety equipment.
• Ensures that all residents and packages are secure in the vehicle.
• Ensure there is a fully charged cell phone on Van/Minibus.
• Follows the safety precautions and accident reporting as outlined in Operation of the Van/Minibus Operation Policy.

Is required to notify the Administrator/Manager immediately under the following conditions:

• Conviction for any traffic violation, except parking, regardless of the nature of the violation or the type of vehicle which was driven at the time;
• If a driver’s license is suspended, revoked, canceled, or if he/she is disqualified from driving.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Maintains supplies and equipment as outlined in the Van/Minibus Operation Policy.
• Inspect first aid kit and emergency supplies and replenish as needed.
• Arranges for yearly state inspection and annual registration renewal.
• Loads and unloads passengers in a safe and courteous manner.
• Maintains mileage and maintenance records.
• Reports any malfunction of vehicle to designated supervisor.
• Performs preventive maintenance on van/minibus. Ensures vehicle is washed as needed or at least monthly. Cleans interior of vehicle after each use.
• Makes arrangements for authorized repairs to vehicle.
• Reports to work in uniform provided him/her.
• Observes and protects residents’ rights including rights to confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and to bend, crawl, stoop, push, and lift in order to deliver care and services as needed.
• Practices safety procedures and complies with established reporting of accidents and injuries.
• Performs other related duties that may be assigned.
