The Senior Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role that ensures the safety of our employees, the quality of our products, and our production schedules are met to deliver quality products on time to our customers. This role requires a strong leadership focus on safety and quality in a highly dynamic environment and includes supervising and managing employees, setting team priorities, and performing production duties as needed to support the team. The Senior Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining performance metrics, identifying, and implementing cross-functional corrective actions, and reporting out to senior leadership on a regular basis. In addition to performing supervisory duties covering both first shift and second shift team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Works in a safe manner and enforces safety rules at all times.
  • Maintains compliance with cGMP, ISO, QMS, and other pertinent regulations and directives.
  • Demonstrates consistent leadership; operates with the highest level of ethics and self-accountability.
  • Identifies and implements cross-functional changes and improvements in the organization to meet safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets.
  • Performs personnel hiring, training, assessment and manages accountability including discipline as required.
  • Partners with Human Resources to establish and maintain employment standards for direct team members, i.e., time and attendance policies.
  • Coaches and develops individuals to operate as a high performing team.
  • Inspires team members through leadership traits; drives a positive and transparent culture.
  • Develops employees to allow them to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Influences peers, direct reports, and managers in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Prepares and delivers regular performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Implements and executes process mechanisms/KPI’s to meet and exceed the operating plan.
  • Supports and drives process improvements.
  • Ensures production material is available and presented to technicians in a timely manner to meet and exceed goals.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly management and metric reports as needed including budget reporting.
  • Writes/updates procedures to ensure their accuracy at all times.
  • Owns all aspects of preparation and performance for the Consumables work centers.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs and enforces aseptic techniques while following the SOPs for the filling operation.
  • Develop, maintain, and document processes for consumables manufacturing.
  • In conjunction with Quality, manage and provide technical expertise in response to investigating failures and performing RCCA or CAPA investigations.
  • Assist as necessary to complete validations in a timely manner ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed
  • Second shift problem solving support
  • Cross-functionally works between departments such as Engineering, supply chain, planning etc.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education:
    • AS or BS Degree in a technical or science curriculum or relevant work experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge/Experience:
    • At least 4 years of relevant industry experience working with microbiological growth media, reagents manufacturing or equivalent.
    • At least 2 years of experience leading a team in a specialized area.
    • Excellent aseptic process/laboratory skills.
    • Working knowledge of cGMP and ISO guidelines. Familiarity with FDA regulations a plus.
    • Experience in automating and scaling manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Proven skills:
    • Ability to problem solve and communicate issues/resolutions to all levels of employees in the company.
    • Ability to multi-task and support multiple production shifts.
    • Ability to synthesize data into meaningful information, and then take action to make improvements.
    • Must be able to communicate in English with others related to daily operations.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Good problem solving and math skills and ability to do mathematical conversions (Metric to English).
    • Good mechanical aptitude and skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Team of full time and temporary (10 to 14 total) per shift (1st and 2nd).
  • Ideal candidate would work 4-10 hour days and overlap with both shifts (i.e., M-TH 10am-8pm, flexibility on schedule)

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Appropriate gowning procedures will be required (hairnet, safety glasses, cleanroom apparel/lab coats, gloves)
  • Occasional environmental odors may be present
  • May be required to work extended hours and weekends
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
