Position Summary:
Provide direct leadership to participate in a YMCA Swim Team program that emphasizes positive self worth, stroke development, fun, fitness, personal safety in a safe aquatic environment.
Essential Functions:
- To attend practices and swim meets as scheduled. Make sure practices are covered as needed.
- Coordinate coaching plan with all coaches
- Completion of meet line-ups for all meets
- Handle administrative work related to swim team and fundraiser
- Maintain effective communication with parents, coaches and YMCA staff as well as work with parent volunteers on key tasks.
- Insure that all swim team members behave properly in the pool, locker room and lobby areas.
- Maintain a positive and encouraging attitude
- Adhere to all YMCA swim league regulations

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to be in the pool area for extended periods of time
- Communicate verbally to groups and individuals in and out of the pool area
- Must be able to lift and assist swimmer in and out of the pool
- Ability to hear sounds of distress in order to assist
- Demonstrate swimming skills in order to increase development of swim team members
Performance Objectives:
Work with individuals or group seeking to accomplish the refinement of stokes and preparation for meets.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification
- Must have understanding of strokes and techniques in the assigned area of instruction
