REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR; MAINTENANCE & CONSTRUCTION
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks.
- Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma license for motor vehicles.
- Must be available for unscheduled, emergency call, and shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre or Theatre Production preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employee shall be primarily responsible for the installation, and maintenance of all theatrical sound/lighting/communications equipment however, on occasion, may be re-assigned to provide assistance within the Electrical department.
- The employee shall work at heights not to exceed 110 feet as well as in confined spaces above, below, or at ground level.
- Plans layout of wiring, installation of wiring, and main distribution power supply to conduits and electrical apparatus inside and outside buildings. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus and repairs faulty mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and electrical components of machines and equipment.
- Shall possess proper time management, organizational skills, and the ability to react quickly and creatively to problems that may arise. Develops a working knowledge of vendors, purchase orders, work orders, and call-in work requests.
- Employee shall schedule lighting hangs, focus calls, cueing sessions, light board, and spot training with Drama, Vocal Music, Band, & Orchestra directors and students. Shall maintain an instrument & equipment inventory of all lighting, effects, and sound equipment as well as preventive maintenance schedule for all depreciating equipment.
- Must be skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and representative drawings of buildings and/or equipment and making necessary repairs/adjustments from detailed electronic blueprints or drawings.
- Employee is responsible for set up of microphones in various places in the Performing Arts Centers (PAC) as well as running sound checks to assess sound levels and confirm the proper functioning of the equipment.
- Employee must work on an electronics test/repair bench utilizing oscilloscopes, voltage meters, signal generators, and other test related tools to assess condition and perform repairs on equipment. Must be able to repair sound equipment and maintain the work area to ensure the safety and productivity for the performance team.
- The employee must possess good communication skills and attention to details in addition to a strong balanced hearing ability, technical knowledge of electricity and electronics, and knowledge of the capabilities of different types of sound equipment.
