In the Managing Technician role you will learn alongside an incredible team of clinicians with Wisconsin Early Autism Project, (WEAP). This internship provides the opportunity to learn and train on all of the essential functions and responsibilities of the Managing Technician (BT Therapist) role.

The Managing Tech is responsible for assisting in the development and oversight of a therapeutic program for target children including supervision and training of Behavior Technicians and leading of the team meetings. Responsibilities:
  • In cooperation with the Doctor, Clinical team, Clinic Director and parent/family member, develop a therapeutic treatment plan for the target child in accordance with program parameters, applicable state and federal guidelines and organizational policies. Adjust treatment plan as needed; maintain clinical documentation on the plan/treatment.
  • Supervise Behavior Technicians in the delivery of one on one, in-home therapy with target children, ensuring adherence to the established program; evaluate line Therapist performance, offer coaching and instruction.
  • Perform “overlap” therapy with target child, working with Behavior Technicians, the target child and other team members a minimum of two hours weekly.
  • Confer with supervising clinical staff and generate progress notes for each case every month and treatment plans twice per year; document any changes to treatment plan; review Behavior Technician’s clinical documentation.
  • Lead weekly team meetings, facilitating discussion of case progress and addressing any concerns brought by the team.
  • When/if necessary, accompany child out-of-home activities for purposes of generalization of the behavior principles being covered in the in-home sessions and/or as transition to school, day-care, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in a Human Services field and at least 2,000 hours of training or supervised experience in the use of ABA or an equivalent behavior modification therapy with children with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s disorder or Pervasive Developmental Disorder required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of various information/data pertaining to assigned cases, other cases, clinical and employment information required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with target child, family members and team members both verbally and in writing required.
  • Experience in staff leadership or supervision and training desired.
  • Preferred areas of study: psychology, education, special education.
