Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
Four years' experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related area

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word Processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning and degree audits. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Excellent written communications, analytical, and interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Job Responsibilities
45%: Advisor
Provides academic advice and guidance to guidance to students. Advises students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns and determines possible courses of action. Approves and signs degree plans, course substitutions, add/drops, Q drops, withdraws, and change curriculum. Approves, establishes, and monitors student probationary terms. Verifies completion of degree requirements. Reviews and provides input on scholarship applications. Monitors student progress and degree requirements. Designs and implements student support programs and serves as an ombudsperson to facilitate retention.
25%: Advising Administration
Assists the Liberal Studies Department in developing and implementing policies and practices for student advising of all the programs in the department (MAST, MELP< MPC, TCD). Answers inquiries and provides information to prospective students, students, and partners. Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments. Assists in the development of systems for maintaining records of student contacts. Develops and presents training materials and programs. Assists with family visits and group tours. May assist in conducting new student orientation. Provides oversight of students during new student orientation and registers new students. Interprets policies and procedures. Interacts with faculty to provide an exchange of information and to enhance the advisement of students.
15%: Advising Collaboration
Works with Seibel Learning Center (SLC) and other department advisors in establishing and taking steps towards campus-wide advising groups and policies. Participates as departmental representative in the campus Advising Council. Assists with intake for incoming students in the department. Works with SLC for smooth student transition from centralized to departmental advising following first year. Works to coordinate policies and assessments with the campus for greater cohesion in campus-wide advising practices. Prepares academic and advising reports.
10%: Date/Systems Management
Works with MARCOM in developing and revising informational material, handbooks, and newsletters. Develops and conducts high school, community college, and college recruitment programs. Communicates with high schools and community colleges to identify students for recruitment.
5%: Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned.
