Job Summary

The Academic Program Facilitator” PhP Coordinator” will provide oversite to the Pathfinder Healthcare Pipeline (PhP) Outreach & Matriculation Initiative) funded by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education through the American Rescue Plan, conduct grant management activities and implementation activities.

The Academic Program Facilitator” PhP Coordinator” Outreach & Matriculation Initiative will utilize a four-pronged approach that includes targeted outreach, engagement, guided pathways and dual credit coursework, acceleration, and awareness activities to grow and strengthen the high school-to-college pipeline for future nurses, allied health professionals, and other frontline healthcare workers and inform long-term strategies at BSCTC to respond to the healthcare training and workforce needs of the Big Sandy Region.

The Academic Program Facilitator” PhP Coordinator” will manage the grant Initiative, including daily activities, and ensure the provision of the various needs of the project, including all necessary reporting to the granting agency. The individual will monitor all grant activities for budget compliance and project outcomes. The coordinator will consistently support and collaborate with lead college grant staff to ensure grant requirements are met and within budget guidelines and provide documentation of the grant implementation at the local college level (including processes and files on students/participants in the program). Additionally, they will conduct and/or participate in regular meetings regarding grant progress with local college staff. The coordinator will promote the program to community groups and civic organizations. This individual will assist in developing agreements, including partnerships and collaborative efforts, and establish recruitment efforts and prospect engagement for allied health programs and pathways.

Job Duties:


Presentations and recruitment of the healthcare prospect pool - engage with secondary students in focused healthcare pathways (with priority during the one-year pilot for students in grades 11 and 12) to facilitate the successful transition of new students from area high schools into allied health programs at BSCTC. This includes working closely with Academic and Student Services and coordinating wrap-around services such as referrals to appropriate college staff such as academic advising, financial aid, etc. (Outcome Target: Develop a healthcare prospect pool of 200 secondary students). Conducts parent meetings and workshops, mentors “at risk” students, and reviews student grades with school personnel.

Collaborate with a third-party vendor in the design and implementation of a communication and engagement platform (Mobile App) and facilitate the connection of allied health faculty program coordinators and faculty for high-touch engagement with prospective students (prospect pool).
(Outcome Target: 80% of the students in the prospect pool will participate in the mobile App)

Manages the growth, development, enrollment, and promotion of the college's Allied Health Guided Pathways, including preparing guidelines for instructors, schools, students, and academic departments, making presentations at schools, overseeing orientation activities for students and instructors, and coordinating with academic and student services.

Facilitates the development of guided pathways with area schools, including exploring a dual credit (Jump Start) or more flexible programming (including virtual, accelerated, and competency-based options and expanding/improving healthcare-related apprenticeships, internships, clinical experiences, and other work-based learning opportunities at the secondary level)
(Outcome Target: Increase allied health dual credit offerings by Fall 2023)

Collaborate with faculty and staff to engage middle school students by expanding "My Future Fridays" healthcare activities to five additional schools and providing logistical support and event supplies. Healthcare career exploration through BSCTC's "My Future Fridays" program introduces eight (8th) graders to opportunities through a series of hands-on exercises and mentorship (Schedule healthcare "My Future Fridays" at five (5) additional sites).


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year experience in a related field.

The coordinator must be highly organized, work well under pressure, and be able to represent the College. The PhP coordinator will lead the project and oversee all four elements of the PhP pilot. Duties will include working closely with a third-party vendor on the design, and implementation of a communication and engagement platform (Mobile App), presentations, and recruitment of the healthcare prospect pool, coordination/collaboration with faculty on communication and high-touch engagement of the prospect pool, dual credit/acceleration planning, mentoring engagement, evaluation and reporting, and other activities.

The position requires working with high school students, administrators, parents, high school faculty, college faculty, and healthcare industry providers. The coordinator is out of the office for long periods as they work to engage students at the high schools. They manage a significant amount of information, work with multiple external partners and ensure data is accurate as it impacts college funding. They are also responsible for collaborating with faculty in Allied Health programs to develop continued prospect engagement processes and activities and dual credit opportunities. The coordinator must balance the needs of the College and the secondary partners the college is serving through dual credit and student engagement activities. It would be beneficial for the person not only to understand the high school environment but also the college admission process and programs of study/pathways of Allied Health careers and regional employers.
