Job description
- Verify processing of account documents, posting of accounting entries, updating of records, and preparation of summary reports.
- Assist with in-depth analysis of accounting records to prepare monthly reports.
- Interpret policy and provide guidance to institutional personnel concerning accounting procedures and internal control requirements.
- Review and process special funds accounting requests, verifying availability of funds and monitoring expenditures for compliance with policies.
- Serve as liaison between accounting and inmate services branches to coordinate policies and compliance.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and entry-level experience in accounting or bookkeeping. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
A bachelor's degree with fifteen (15) semester hours in accounting related courses;
OR
An associate's degree with twelve (12) semester hours in accounting related courses and one (1) year of accounting experience;
OR
A high school diploma and four (4) years of accounting experience.
