The Position:
The Accountant will support underlying working capital process (AP and AR) while demonstrating comfort with big data and automating process using common software like excel. You should be comfortable with enough accounting context to understand how to check your work for reasonableness. Assist in the mitigation of business risk (ex. confidentiality, segregation of duties) and help the company grow with new thinking! This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a pay rate of $29/hour+, DOE.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support information requests from cross-functional partners and maintain work instructions.
- Maintains the general ledger through consistent journal entry and chart of account application.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and helps manage/prioritize accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides assistance to outside financial partners (ex. banks, tax firm) as appropriate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Solid excel skills; ability to understand worksheets and maintain them in subsequent billing/invoicing cycles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software, Quickbooks a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- 0-3 years work experience with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline (or equivalent)
- Equivalent of 5-7 years working experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The Location:
This is a hybrid/remote position.
We are located in Mount Vernon just north of Highway 20 in the beautiful Skagit Valley. The site is a fully operational Construction & Demolition recycling center which has frequent traffic, dust and noise. Runs will generally begin and end at this facility with dispatches within the I-5 corridor.
