Job Purpose:

Our partner, a leading utilities company in the northeastern US, is seeking an Accounting Analyst to join their Brooklyn team on a contract-basis for the period of 6-months. The work format will be hybrid, with an expected 1-2 days in-office per week at 2 Hanson Place 12th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11217.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts discovery to support rate case inquiry response documents.
• Provides rate case execution documentation to support Regulatory and the submittal of business plans (rate cases) to state and regulatory agencies.
• Provides financial review support for NE and NY rate case data scrubs.
• Responsible for gaining approval on rate case drafts and rework.
• Maintains quality control for testing responses to ensure credible information.
• Ensures timely and credible document responses for regulators.
• Monitors response rate for rate case activities to identify issues and communicate.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with 2-3 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Regulatory roles, with increasing responsibility
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills, with good attention to details
• US GAAP, IFRS, SOX and SEC regulations knowledge
• Reconciliation and governance experience
• Financial systems (SAP) knowledge
• Data collection, data analytics, and reporting skills
• Utility accounting and finance experience
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance
• Rate case execution experience
• Experience managing competing priorities while maintaining compliance with rate case related deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively when the situation warrants
• Process and financial control implementation and monitoring

Technologically savvy, proficiency with data transformation and visualization tools (e.g., Power Query & Power BI) a plus
