Job description
Phantom Fireworks, the industry leader in the import, wholesale, and retail of consumer fireworks, is seeking an accounting professional who is detail-oriented, self-motivated and has advanced accounting skills and knowledge.
The position is responsible for managing and actively participating in the month end closing process and preparation of monthly financial statements and operational reports. The position is also responsible for overseeing the preparation of supporting schedules, performing certain variance analysis as well as overseeing certain daily transaction processing performed by the accountant team. In addition, the position participates in the annual audit and will have an active role in implementing process improvements.
The ability to multi-task on various projects and delegate to accounting team members are critical to ensure tasks are completed timely. The position will also provide ongoing support and training to the accounting team.
Detailed Requirements:
· Manage and actively participate in the month-end closing process
· Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger account balances
· Prepare the financial statements and other operating reports
· Review the reconciliation of banking, credit card processing and payroll accounts/functions
· Have a thoroughly understanding of existing processes and make recommendations on improvements and implements them
· Assists the Accounting Receivable accountant with managing customer accounts, account collections, and recording/reconciliation of bad debt
· Assists in the training and mentoring of the accounting team
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
· CPA, CMA or related Master’s Degree required
· A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
· Experience supervising staff
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
· Extreme attention to detail
· Critical thinking and analytical approach
Preferred:
· Experience with ERP and other accounting software
· Retail accounting experience
· Point of Sales understanding and involvement
