Position: Accounting/Payroll Specialist

Salary Range: $ DOE

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: CFO

Location: Klamath Open Door

The Accounting/Payroll Specialist will support the Chief Financial Officer and coordinate with the Finance Manager in maintaining, recording, processing, updating, and reconciling various financial documents. The Accounting/Payroll Specialist will also keep records of financial transactions and be responsible for ensuring financial documents' accuracy and performing clerical accounting and/or bookkeeping duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable:
  • Verifying the existence of supporting documentation and management approval for all disbursements.
  • Matches purchase orders and packing slips with vendor invoices. Verifies the existence of department coordinator approval.
  • Presents all disbursement requests to CEO for final approval.
  • Verifies, allocates, and posts detail of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals.
  • Oversees all accounting files for timely filing and completeness.
  • Payroll on a biweekly basis:
  • Responsibility includes reviewing hourly employee timecard reports for accuracy
  • Ensures that all salaried employees submit an accurate timecard before processing salaried payroll
  • Tracks all paid time off, and other benefits and deductions for all employee classes.
  • Pay Payroll taxes and retirement funds biweekly.
  • Organizes personnel files for completeness – all files must contain updated copies of W-4s, personnel change notices, salary, wage, certifications, etc.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years related experience in non-profit finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Have the ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Have the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and board of directors
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, business mathematics, and accounting skills.
  • Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, systems, and procedures.
  • Have advanced computer knowledge and an understanding of fiscal record keeping.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess the tact necessary to deal effectively with patients, physicians, and employees
  • Must have a pleasant, professional attitude toward patients, customers, co-workers, and superiors
