Description:

  • Supervise the Accounts Payable staff including hiring, training, assigning and directing work-flow of the staff
  • Responsible to identify training needs of staff and provide training
  • Analyzes invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
  • Oversees reports regarding cash flow; ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records.
  • Reconciles accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records (e.g., subsidiary vendors ledger).
  • Perform analysis of accruals and other accounts payable clearing accounts including purchasing cards.
  • Ensures employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for the payables clerk to prepare and submit 1099s.
  • Reconcile significant vendor statements and ensure all vendors are reconciled on a periodic basis by the team.
  • Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
  • Address and respond to vendor and internal inquiries
  • Assists with monthly closing process and communication with the accounting department
  • Back up Accounts Payable Specialists, entry of invoices and payment processing
  • Back up Accounts Payable Manager
  • Provide process improvement suggestions including automation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • College accounting/finance/business administration courses required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in accounts payable
  • At least 3+ years' experience supervising a team of 3+
  • At least 3+ years' experience processing 1099s
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office Products, Use of Pivots
  • ERP Experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Restaurant industry not needed, but is a plus
