Holy Family Home is looking for amazing full time Activity Director to join our family team to work full time - 9am - 5pm. Position requires you to be UP-TO-DATE VACCINATED.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
In accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the Activity Director shall be responsible to provide an ongoing program of activities designed to meet Resident interests and provide for the physical, mental and psychosocial wellbeing of each Resident. Such activities are consistent with the Home’s standards and philosophy, and in compliance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the facility.
JOB STANDARDS:
- Must be qualified as a therapeutic recreation specialist who is Licensed or registered by the State; and eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist by a recognized accrediting body; or Activity Director Certified or in process of obtaining certiciaction of National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
- Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, 1 of which was full-time in a patient activity program, in a health care setting; or
- Has completed a training course approved by the State.
- Knowledge, experience and skills in recreational programs such as: arts, crafts, music, ceramics, re-motivation techniques or reality orientation.
- Must have an ability to plan and execute an activities program designed to meet the individual and collective needs of geriatric Residents at all levels of care.
- Possess the ability to perform the *essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Take charge and full responsibility for planning, implementing and directing departmental activity program suited to the needs and interests of Residents.
- Assure that the comprehensive assessment identifies and meets the Resident's needs and activity potential.
- Assure that departmental documentation of programming and Resident participation is accurately maintained and inclusive of attendant records, assessments, progress notes and program goals.
- Provide empowerment activities that promote increased self-respect by providing opportunities for self-expression, personal responsibility and choice.
- Provide maintenance activities that provide a schedule of events that promote physical, cognitive, social and emotional health.
- Provide supportive activities that provide stimulation or solace to Residents who cannot generally benefit from either maintenance or empowerment activities.
- Provide quality activity programs and interventions to assist the Resident in meeting treatment goals.
- Know and follow existing lines of communication and authority. Serves as a role model in upholding the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Activity Department and of the facility. Maintain effective and consistent communication between departments.
- Works effectively and cooperatively as a team member, within own department and with all departments or other disciplines. Notify Residents and staff of all coming events, contacting and coordinating efforts as needed.
- Flexible in directing nursing home sponsored activity schedules on weekends and evenings.
- Assume responsibilities for off-site activities, providing Residents with opportunities for contacts with and involvement in the community.
- Maintain confidentiality of all Residents, departmental and organizational information.
- Assure that all Resident rights are maintained at all times, reporting issues of concern to administration.
- Assist and guide Resident in maintaining a healthy and vigorous Resident Council organization.
- Attend in services and ensure that activity staff meetings are held at least weekly.
- Participate in all staff and management meetings viewing position as a contributing member of the management team.
- Perform other related activity department duties as assigned by Supervisor as well as assisting with activities as needed.
WORK SETTING/ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily indoors but at times may be required to accompany Residents on scheduled outings. Work environment is well lighted, clean and suitable to tasks performed. Temperature control standards are the same that governs a skilled care licensed facility.
