Activity Director Job Description --Assisted Living

The Activity Manager is to work together with current activity manager and is responsible to manage all social activities in and out of the community. This position designs and implements vibrant cultural, physical, intellectual, educational, spiritual, social, service/volunteering and special interest activities based on resident needs and input. Adheres to customer service philosophy by providing excellent customer service to residents, their families, and team members.

Develop Activities

-Plan, coordinate and participate in a variety of social events/outings to provide a vibrant and active community life to residents.
-Determine resident programming preferences, talents and needs through new resident orientation, informal feedback sessions, resident council meetings, discussions with family member, and on-going dialogue.
-Engage residents, families and the external community in activities and volunteer opportunities that promote socialization, expand personal interests, increase physical activity, and continue education.
-Align with external organizations, family members, and educational institutions to establish synergistic partnerships for the delivery of quality programs and volunteerism.
-Track resident activity participation and adjust calendar events accordingly.
-Stay abreast of active aging and generational trends in order to enhance the community program; create and share relevant “best practices” with both community staff and other.

-Develop community communications such as activities calendars, to residents, families, and prospective residents.
-Transport and/or accompany residents to and from outside activities, shopping trips and appointments in community vehicle(s).
-Set up and tear down of activities (i.e., moving furniture, set up of tables, chairs, etc.).
-Acknowledge residents’ special days (i.e., anniversaries and birthdays). Arrange and coordinate diverse holiday celebrations.
-Select and manage outside vendors, including entertainers, caterers, etc.

Marketing

-Assist the Marketing Director in planning events that encourage prospective residents to participate in community activities.
-Liaison between senior centers, churches, and the community.

Administration.
-Participate and attend all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.
-Order and manage supplies for all activities.

Requirements:

- Availability of working weekend.

-Must be at least 18 years of age

-Criminal clearance prior to presence in the Community

-High School diploma required; College Degree or equivalent.
Experience:
-Must have 3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Prefer three years of social activity leadership.
-Senior living experience preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
-Must be able to effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
-Must be a respectful and reliable team player.
-Must be able to work independently.
-Must enjoy working with seniors and have a positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy.
-Must have working knowledge of basic computer and software including MS Office.
-Must be able to successfully multitask and be adaptable to changing demands.
-Consistent and punctual attendance.
-Criminal record clearance prior to presence in the community.
-Must meet all health requirements (including TB) and pass drug/alcohol and background checks
-Driving record in good standing and must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (if applicable) within 90 days from date of hire.
-Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire where required by state
-This position may require flexible scheduling to meet Activity Department needs in and out of the community to assure proper coverage. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
