TITLE: Activity Leader
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
SCHEDULE: Part Time
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plans, teaches, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have 48 college units/68 quarter units or have a paraprofessional certificate.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- EXPERIENCE in one of the following subject areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Performing Arts
- EXPERIENCE working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to create lesson plans, teaching and implementation of quality programs for youth.
- Ability to assist with organization and supervision of members in a safe environment at all times.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with schools, members' parents and others to assist in publicizing the After School Program and resolving problems within Club.

While performing the responsibilities of the Activity Leader job, the employee is required to talk in a clear voice and be able to hear well. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle, manipulate or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, run, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must be able to lift a minimum of 15lbs.
