Job Summary:
The Actuarial Analyst I prepares baseline analysis an expectations of future rate changes and supports the department and organization in all other statistical estimates/measures needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Complete Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserve estimates for assigned CareSource lines of business on a monthly basis
  • Ensure financial integrity of lag cell data via reconciliation procedures
  • Support IBNR results to external actuaries engaged as part of audit or other events
  • Assist in developing internal statistical models to support key business goals / initiatives
  • Support projects that help to determine key assumptions that are included in our rate development practices
  • Prepare baseline analysis on expectations of rate changes for future years
  • Support the rate development activities across assigned lines of business
  • Support new business in providing benefit plan rating factors / adjustments
  • Complete federal or state rate and benefit plan filing requirements as necessary
  • Perform any other job duties as requested
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics or a related field is required
  • Strong database (SAS or Access) experience is preferred
  • Managed Care or healthcare experience is preferred
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite to include, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Familiar with a variety of analysis concepts, practice and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, SAS, R, or other data manipulation software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop, prioritize and accomplish goals
  • Auditing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high level of professionalism
  • Effective problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective listening and critical thinking skills
Licensure and Certification:
  • Active pursuit of an actuarial designation is required with up to three exams successfully passed
