Position Summary:


The Actuarial Supervisor is primarily responsible for the pricing of the Company’s products. The position also supports the estimation of ultimate loss and loss adjustment expenses for purposes of establishing appropriate reserves.


Responsibilities:


  • Develops rates, rating plans and pricing strategies using both standard and advanced actuarial techniques and competitive analyses
  • Provides supporting materials for filings to secure regulatory approval of company rates
  • Proposes improvements in the accuracy and sophistication of pricing and forecasting models
  • Reconciles data used in pricing and reserving models to Company financial data
  • Coordinates with underwriting, marketing, and systems staff to implement rates and products that support profitable growth
  • Research emerging trends, competitive conditions and operational changes
  • Develop and communicate business analytics to Senior Leadership
  • Work collaboratively as a part of the business planning process
  • Supervise and develop direct reports (2-3), including developing and executing vision for team and broader department


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the areas of actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics.
  • 4+ actuarial exams completed (Exam 5 preferred)
  • 4+ years of technical experience in P&C insurance focusing on actuarial disciplines such as pricing, reserving, reinsurance, and predictive modeling
  • Possess excellent communication skills, relationship building skills, and is technically sound with an ability to solve complex actuarial problems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SQL, R and a high degree of comfort working with large datasets is preferred.
  • Previous experience with state filing process (preferably homeowners line of business) and communications with DOIs, preferably in FL and other and Atlantic coast states.
  • Previous experience working closely with underwriting and/or product development.
  • General understanding of predictive modeling concepts
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; and manages changing priorities effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
