Job Description:
Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Adjunct Faculty member are the course development, instruction, and coordination of the Basic Medical Sciences course for MSPA Program students. This course primarily consists of graduate-level physiology, as well as smaller portions on clinical microbiology and genetics. Candidates will be expected to have a strong commitment to innovative teaching and active learning. The course is taught once every Fall.

The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the MSPA Program. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Program Director and works collaboratively with the Director of Didactic Education and other PA Program faculty to ensure the program is in full compliance with ARC-PA Standards.

Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services. Education and Experience

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biological Science, or a closely related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Human Physiology (alone or in conjunction with Human Anatomy) at a college or university level.
Prior experience teaching students pursuing a medical field is preferred.
Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Individuals must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Provides students with the necessary attention and instruction to acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for entry into the physician assistant (PA) profession.
Provides high-quality student instruction and teaches in areas of expertise (i.e., graduate-level physiology, microbiology, genetics);
Coordinates instruction (i.e., serves as Course Director) within the designated course(s);
Evaluates student performance (e.g., written assignments, examinations, group work);
Engages in the academic advising of MSPA students;
Provides remedial instruction as needed;
Assists the Director of Didactic Education with the design, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and long-term management of the assigned didactic course(s) to ensure the curriculum is fully compliant with ARC-PA Standards;
Engages in faculty development activities through continuous education in order to remain aware of issues impacting PA education and clinical practice.
Participates in ongoing accreditation activities (as needed), as well as continuous programmatic and curricular evaluation;
Performs other duties as determined by the Director of Didactic Education, Program Director, and/or the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences.

A valid driver's license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
