POSITION SUMMARY:

Interview persons by telephone, in person, or by the bedside for the purpose of completing forms, applications, or questionnaires. Ask specific questions, record answers, and assist persons with completing form. May sort, classify, a nd file forms. Will also collect co pays from patients and assist business office with reports. Respond to medi-alert calls, surgery calls, alarms, and all other communications filtered through the ACA office.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This section reviews the employee's performance of the responsibilities outlines in his/her specific job description.

  • Registration of all patients with complete and accurate information. Ask questions in accordance with standards set to obtain specified information such as name, address, date of birth, employment, etc.
  • Obtain signatures on all admitting forms and scan to account. Also responsible, as applicable to the patient, for scanning insurance cards, drivers license, Medicaid eligibility forms obtained through MO Healthnet website, and any other information that may be pertinent for billing purposes.
  • Communications (i.e. phone system, paging, MediAlert calls, alarm system, etc.). Responsible for directing all hospital wide telephone communications.
  • Receptionist duties such as customer inquiries, directing customer flow, and cashier duties.
  • Collecting of ER copays when applicable and patient payments when Cashiers office &/or Business office is closed.
  • Filing and other duties in Business Office or assigned by the Business Office Manager.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High-School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior Hospital experience preferred such as: unity secretary, medical records, or receptionist
