ADS
- Responsible for training and supervising ADS employees, including Supervisors, Leads, Attendants, Recyclers, etc., including but not limited to: hiring, discipline, completing evaluations and wage adjustments, safety training, scheduling, resignations, and documentation/completion of all related paperwork
- Oversees operations within ADS department and As-Is department (including car sales as needed and other donations)
- Supervises and/or takes part in staff selection
- Takes the lead role in working with staff to increase donations by expanding donation sites through events, drives, and permanent sites
- Contacts businesses or private individuals by telephone in order to solicit sales for goods or services, or to request donations for charitable causes
- Oversees the research of potential sites via demographic assessment, meetings with property managers, and coordination of site placement
- Oversees special events and permanent site placement in coordination with Director of Operations
- Explains Goodwill of Silicon Valley’s products or services, and answer questions from customers
- Telephones or writes letters to respond to accounts and orders
- Ensures the accuracy of paperwork for all transactions
- Responsible for all employment related changes, actions and requests, utilizing the GWSV human capital management system
- Supports the Director of Operations with timesheets, PAFs, manual check requests, and other administrative duties as needed

As-Is
- Responsible for training and supervising As-Is employees, including but not limited to: hiring, discipline, completing evaluations and wage adjustments, safety training, scheduling, resignations, and documentation/completion of all related paperwork
- Conducts and/or oversees Forklift, Big Joe and other Machine Operator training
- Manages/Operates the As-Is Store. This includes but is not limited to, preparing product/spots for sales, POS system, cash handling and accounting, vendor relations, adherence to policies and procedures within the department for both employees and vendors for Cars and all other Operations donations
- Manages the department in the most efficient manner possible and maintains productivity levels while controlling costs. Makes all efforts to meet revenue goals
- Conducts self audits on processes and cash handling as well as audits on cashiers. Cooperates with external audits
- Records and analyzes Operations data for process improvements and sustainability
- Provides required customer service to both internal and external contacts
- Maintains safe work operations, safe work environment and department security
- Controls cash handling processes and revenue producing documents adequately
- Ensures the maintenance and proper use of materials, equipment (including hand trucks, forklifts, and the ground equipment, etc) and vehicles
- Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance in designated areas
- Oversees Planning Center processes including but not limited to data entry, payroll, purchasing procedures, and record keeping
- Develops and implements process improvements to maximize efficiencies. Ensures proper execution of tasks, projects, and process changes
- Takes part in committees and project groups as needed
Car Sales
- Supervises car sales transactions
- Oversees all aspects of donated vehicle receipt and sales, including transfer and tax paperwork, arrange for any necessary maintenance and detailing, pick up and towing, and advertise available cars
- Ensures the use available tools to price and post donated cars online and refresh postings as necessary. Maintains visual presence of cars in Goodwill parking lot using “For Sale” signs
- Ensures the accuracy of paperwork for all car transactions and provide an ongoing account of car sales
- Partners with Marketing to increase donated vehicle volume
- Ensures the effective marketing of cars to earn the greatest possible revenue for GWSV
- Maintains database on cars available for purchase and sold
- Other duties as assigned
Job specifications:
Proficiency in the English language
Bilingual – Spanish (advantage)
Education/license required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience/knowledge required:
1 – 2 years experience in the customer service area or equivalent
Computer literacy required, Sales
Equipment used:
Computer, telephone , copy and FAX machines,
Aptitudes/skills/temperament:
- Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Ability to understand others’ feelings and personal viewpoints and adapt accordingly
- Ability to drive company vehicles. This requires a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record
- Ability to coordinate hand-eye-foot movement to safely maneuver in and out of trucks and trailers, operate vehicle controls, walk up and down ramps and lift and/or stack donations
- Ability to maintain self-control and deal effectively with public and work in cooperation with co-workers
- Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity
- Ability to make generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on various situations or criteria
- Ability to maintain self-control and composure when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, changing from one task to another without losing efficiency or composure
Emotional effect:
The job involves some emotional effort involving occasional short deadlines requiring extended hours. Work environment is generally routine with occasional periods of high activity/demand.
Job Setting:
The job is performed indoors in a climatically controlled setting. As well as outdoors at donation sites, parking lots, and areas of headquarters.
Work is performed independently and in cooperation with co-workers. There is regular contact with the public. The position requires minimal supervision.
Physical demands:
The job involves some sedentary work which requires lifting no more than 25 lbs and/or occasional lifting and carrying items such as file folders, ledgers and small tools. Regular movement is required including short term travel for cars and to donation sites/events.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $64,480.00 - $72,000.00 per year
