Summary:

GD-OTS is currently seeking an Advanced Quality Engineer to join the San Diego team. Our facility is located in Otay Mesa in South San Diego. As an Adv QE you will take part in managing AS9100 D audit activities, coordinate AS9100 audit scheduling, audit activity and follow up. You will also direct implementations and qualifications for programs and/or special customer required processes and qualifications. Additionally, as Adv QE you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and directing development of inspection techniques and documentation for new and existing programs and products as assigned within GD-OTS San Diego Quality department. Participation in continuous improvement activities pertaining to customer feedback, management, manufacturing, and supply chain processes is key for this role. GD-OTS San Diego runs on a 9/80 work week schedule; we have every other Friday off.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Quality assurance activities including process assessment, process control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, MSA and statistical data.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities pertaining to customer feedback, management, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.
  • Drive the Non-Conforming material process to ensure an efficient material flow and lead Zero Defect Plan activities for defect reduction.
  • Ensure disciplined execution of the Quality Battle Rhythm, to monitor our metrics, drive RCCA Investigations and develop action counter measures.
  • Review customer/internal/industry specifications to ensure compliance with stated requirements. Responsible for implementing changes directly related to inspection activities and part processing through company change processes.
  • Initiate and coordinate corrective and preventive actions with the engineering teams, verification of effectiveness such as actions for customer complaints, internal audits, and internal and external supplier non-conformances.
  • Play a key role in the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of the GD-OTS quality system, including Internal and External Audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or technical related field and 3-5 years of related experience.
  • CQE (preferred), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred).
  • Understanding of quality tools/methods, including FAI(AS9102), PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA, Control Plans, Auditing, etc.
  • Experience with ISO-9001:2015 or AS9100.
  • Computer skills, Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
