Collins Aerospace is looking for Manufacturing Engineer (ME) to perform a wide range of tasks and services to support the manufacturing critical technologies for the world's largest aviation customers. In this role, you will devise, design and implement advanced solutions supporting quality, costs, digital / smart factory, production and business unit objectives. The hired professional should demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems and be able to work autonomously with limited supervision utilizing honed root cause analysis skills in troubleshooting and developing countermeasures and corrective actions.

*Please note that this position is an onsite role in Foley, AL, Troy, OH, or Riverside, CA. Relocation is available for the eligible selected candidate.*

Responsibilities

  • Design/re-design sequence of operations for manufacturing processes using lean principles and innovative techniques towards reducing Days to Manufacture/Least Waste Way while improving quality and ergonomics and promoting safety.
  • Contribute to creating, maintaining, and improving manufacturing process documents (routings, bill of material, visual aids, standard work, etc.).
  • Develop, implement, and improve real time data collection and analysis. Seek and implement solutions to improve producibility and process capability based on data.
  • Implement digital initiatives for operations. Implement solutions through automation and other engineering techniques, to strengthen process capability.
  • Work in a cross-functional team to identify opportunities for automation and modernization in line with business strategies.
  • Play a key role in automation and equipment projects including design, testing, installation, troubleshooting, training, documentation and budget planning. Develop and maintain system architecture drawings and documentation.
  • Perform corrective action investigations using advanced data analytic tools, metrics and trends to identify systemic gaps. Create solutions through the use of RRCA tools in order to improve key performance indicators (e.g., First Pass Yield, Quality Defects, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, etc.).
  • Demonstrate Continuous Improvement/Lean competency during events and ensure focus to reduce Day to Manufacture, Cost Reduction, address EHS risks, etc.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and conduct safety/ergonomic assessments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
  • BS or MS degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or aerospace engineering is highly preferred.
  • Previous ME experience using Lean manufacturing, Process Control and Six Sigma concepts is desired.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives is desired.
  • Experience with electrical wire harnesses is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP & Relevant Transactions is desired.
  • Experience in automation, robotics, and/or Digital Factory Solutions is desired.
