  • Hands on experience in flow/CFD and thermal analysis of aero/gas turbine compartments.
  • Develop Flow/CFD and thermal models (2D,3D & 2D/3D) for aero/industrial gas turbine engine components using ANSYS CFX/Fluent and/or STAR-CCM+ or other commercial CFD tools.
  • Perform 2D/3D steady/Unsteady and transient CFD and CFD-FEA analysis for all rotating/Static gas turbine components.
  • Perform CFD studies including geometry modification, meshing, solver execution, post-processing, and interpretation of the CFD results
  • Develop and analyze 2D and 3D engine dynamics models to support the design and development of aircraft engines. Generate engine loads and provide to design groups along with guidance for loads interpretation
  • Perform a wide range of engine rotor dynamics, vibration and loads analyses in support of commercial and military aircraft gas turbine engine programs
  • Prescribe engine system design requirements to help assure engine products meet customer requirements for vibration, durability and abnormal loading such as blade-off
  • Define instrumentation, monitor vibration testing of aircraft engines / rigs, post-process & summarize test results, and correlate dynamics models to test data
  • Assist in the development of engine dynamics and loads methodology and process improvements that enhance product quality and reduce product cost
  • Prepare reports and present technical data to engineering leadership and external customers
  • Support and enhance the development of 2D and 3D analytical dynamics tools and the engine vibration testing process
  • Expertise in Aero thermal tools to generate steady state and transient boundary conditions for flight mission profiles.
  • Ability to manage aero thermal projects and coordinate with customers on daily/weekly deliverables.
  • Expected to create and improve structure and unstructured mesh for the complex geometry like core compartment with all the external components.
  • Develop analytical and CFD models to analyze rotating component, static components, and engine externals
  • Experience in hand calculations of heat transfer coefficients for single/multi-Phase flow mixtures, mixture properties.
  • Ability will apply deep CFD domain knowledge of advanced computational techniques and aerodynamics to support design and analysis of gas turbine engine for internal and external flows
  • Strong aero thermal design domain knowledge in fluid flow & heat transfer analysis. Understanding CFD analysis results and using results into thermal analysis.
  • Deep understanding of steady-state and transient compressible flow modeling
  • Simulate flow fields and predict heat transfer in two and three-dimensions
  • Serve as subject matter expert in topics related to CFD including turbulent flow modeling techniques, Heat transfer, Multiphase flows, Population balance models, Free surface flows, Implementation, Acoustics, Combustion, Dynamic mesh applications, Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI), CFD-FEA coupling and Pressure surge analysis.
  • Deep understanding of transport phenomena in single phase and multiphase flows and applicable analytical/numerical methods
  • Contribute to development of validated design tools and design practices
  • Knowledge of statistical methods to address uncertainties in the numerical model results and to improve confidence level in model predictions
  • Develop modeling procedures & methodologies and documentation for processes and methods
  • Actively participate and contribute to engineering investigations using root-cause analysis
  • CAD TOOLS: UNIGRAPHICS, Space Claim
  • CAE TOOLS: ANSYS, ANSYS Workbench, Fluent
  • Prog. Languages: ANSYS(APDL), C, VBA, Python, MatLab-SimLink
  • Aero engine – Aero Thermal Engineer 7 + yrs Required

Required

  • Experience with ANSYS CFX/Fluent and/or STAR-CCM+ or other commercial CFD tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming in at least one standard language: Python, Matlab, C/C++, R, etc
  • Excellent organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams
