SUMMARY
The Crisis Responder provides crisis intervention services to youth who are absent from home without parental consent, unable to return home because the parents/legal guardian refuse to take custody or beyond the control of parents in circumstances which constitute a substantial or immediate danger to their physical safety and to divert them from care or entering the Juvenile Justice System. The focus is to provide immediate crisis intervention services and reunification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

1. Provide crisis intervention services to referring source (hospital, school, police department) via phone w/in 15 minutes and on site within 60 (urban) 90 (rural) minutes of crisis call
2. Serve as a responder for designated Local Area Network (LAN), which includes: Vermilion, Kankakee, South Cook, West Cook, Will/Grundy and Kane/Kendall counties.
3. Complete the Crisis Intervention Intake packet at the point of crisis.
4. Ensure all required crisis intervention documentation is complete and accurate.
5. Ensure the Crisis Team Lead receives all crisis intake documentation by 10:00 am of the next business day.
6. Provide and arrange for reunification, family generated placement or agency arranged placement at time of crisis, with a short term crisis plan.
7. Provide Linkage and Referral services specific to client and family needs during time of crisis.
8. Adheres to crisis schedule, by ensuring that answering service can contact worker immediately via cell phone and home phone as a secondary means of contact.
10. Provide life skills groups to responding areas as determined.
11. Provide required documentation (i.e. mileage, time sheets, etc.) as indicated by agency protocols.
12. Participate in individual, group supervision and program staff meetings as scheduled to address client issues and revised documentation, placement options, and crisis schedules.
13. Monitor and supervise clients to ensure their safety and well-being during programming hours and transport.
14. Comply with the State of Illinois mandated reporting law.
15. Complete all required Federal, IDHS and Agency Core Curriculum and Mandated Reporter trainings, meetings and workshops as required.
16. Provide services to program clients during on call shift as deemed necessary by supervisor.
17. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BSW) required. Previous experience with at-risk youth preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be available to work evenings and weekends and flexible in scheduling. Will be required to transport clients in own vehicle. Must be able to accept and incorporate constructive feedback.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clear driving record.
Documentation verifying current automobile insurance.
