This position is for an Aftercare teacher for our toddler room, serving and caring for 1 and 2-year-olds. This is a great opportunity for Vol State/Welch/Union college students looking for part-time work! Please know we will only discuss candidates who are at least available 3-6 M-F. You will work with one other person in your aftercare room!

The After Care Teacher of Children First Preschool will implement curriculum that meets or exceeds requirements for childcare according to licensing requirements of the state of Tennessee, the Early Childhood Environmental Ratings Scale (ECERS), the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards (TN-ELDS)

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing lesson plans that correlate with the Creative Curriculum and Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards (TN-ELDS).
  • Communicate appropriately with the children in the program to help develop language, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators and other workers within the program.
  • Communicate and inform the parents on a regular basis about their child(ren) concerning current program activities and upcoming events.
  • Provide a structured environment that will meet each child’s individual needs. Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
  • Observe children during work and play.
  • Always be engaged with children during play to help teach them social skills.
  • Follow all policies and procedures (Children First, DHS, ITERS, ECERS)

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work to maintain a pleasant, effective working environment within the program and between Children First and HFUMC; encourage team spirit and positive attitudes.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the children in the program.
  • Complete continuing education seminars/workshops as required by DHS.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning the staff, children, and parents and church information.
  • Treat all children, parents, and staff with respect at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with preschool children.
  • Stamina to safely supervise preschool children.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Background Check Required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
