ALK Abello' Source Materials, Inc., a leading manufacturer of quality allergenic biological source materials, and a member of the global ALK-Abello' group of companies, is recruiting for our open Agronomy/Horticulture Technician position. Join our stable and growing company and provide leadership and expertise to our workforce located in our 120,000 square foot facility in Post Falls, ID.
The Agronomy/Horticulture Technician is responsible for assisting with farm, orchard, and greenhouse management activities, as well as, participate in the annual pollen collections and bee/wasp collections as needed; at times traveling long distances and hauling farm/collections equipment to the locations. The Technician also helps organize and execute hay harvest on Plummer farm fields and assist with field/orchard/greenhouse operations. The Technician will also help with maintaining irrigation systems and schedules, maintenance of farm/collection equipment and maintenance of greenhouse systems. Lastly, adherence to SOPs for pollen collection, pollen handling, and processing, along with completing accompanying documentation according to cGMP and regulatory requirements is a must.
The successful candidate will preferably have a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years relevant work experience (College credits or degree in a relevant field are a plus). Ideal candidates will have the ability to identify plants by species using references and making visual identification while working in greenhouse, farm, and other outdoor environments. This is a physically demanding position, requiring the capability to be on your feet for long periods of time, lift a 50 pound load, and operate ladders, cutting tools, and mechanical equipment safely. At times the position requires extended work hours including weekends and holidays as needed to successfully complete the pollen collection forecast and Farm Plan. Experience in a controlled cGMP environment is a plus. Demonstration of excellent communication, facilitation skills and teamwork are a must. All positions at ASM require the ability to comfortably and safely work around insect venoms, allergens, hazardous chemicals, solvents and other laboratory reagents.
