Position Description:Alamo Trust Inc. is looking for History Interpreters
Full-time with benefits, including employer paid medical for employee, paid holidays, paid time off, retirement match.
$15 an hour for training.
$20 an hour once completed training.
POSITION SCOPE
The Alamo History Interpreter provides interpretation of the Alamo site and its over 300 years of history through guided tours, history talks and other interpretive platforms. Candidates for this position are required to successfully complete a training program to become subject matter experts in Alamo history, as well as training in interpretive method. Candidates should be well-spoken, outgoing individuals who enjoy conversing with visitors who wish to learn more about our history.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ?
Study and master the history of the Alamo (training program provided)
Develop and master a general tour of the Alamo
Develop specialized tours for specific groups or specific dates/events
Provide educational and entertaining tours of the Alamo for visitors
Work with Alamo Guest Experience/Interpretation leadership in developing new and engaging experiences
P rovide tours for students of all ages focusing on grade-level standard s
QUALIFICATIONS ?
High school diploma required
Experience in public speaking/history interpretation preferred
Outgoing personality with ability to speak to the public
Ability to collaborate with other educators and museum staff
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lead two or three hour-long walking tours per shift and conduct additional educational programs throughout the day
