The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for an Analyst, Asset Management in Lansing, MI.
Job Type: Full-Time
Starting Salary Range: $69,000. - $82,800.

Position Summary:
Provides statistical, analytical, and administrative support to the Asset Management department. The Analyst will assist with the development and maintenance of performance metrics, the preparation of technical and other documents, create purchase requisitions, process invoices, perform departmental budgetary analysis, and assist with the administration of various projects and programs within the department.

Essential Functions:
  • Support department with tracking and managing the Capital and O&M Budgets.
  • Support organization in developing 6 Year Capital Budget and Forecast
  • Extracting budgetary data, and other information, from various sources.
  • Maintains budget reports and quarterly variance reports and assists leadership with the planning and preparation thereof.
  • Review invoices for completeness and assign to proper accounting and budget numbers.
  • Conducts purchases through SAP and RFP/RFIs and works with purchasing to maintain contracts.
  • Prepares high quality reports, agendas, meeting notes, and presentation materials
  • Utilizes Organizational Change Management methodologies to support team in implementing change
  • Analyze various data for tracking, planning, and other purposes
  • Support KPIs for Asset Management department and operations
  • Assessment and determination of department data organization needs.
  • Actively participates in relevant project and process teams both internally and externally to the department.
  • Participate in discussions analyzing business requirements, designing solutions, and continual process improvement.
  • Develops and maintains department documentation
  • Collaborates with personnel/teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the assets, processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Assist with computer-based applications to provide support to department personnel.
  • Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
  • Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.




Job Specifications:
Required:
  • This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of five years of related experience as an analyst or in accounting/finance.
  • Process flow understanding and implementation.
  • Microsoft Office Certification or proven proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Must be well-organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and fulfill responsibilities in a timely manner.

Preferred:
  • Understanding of finance, budgets, reporting and the ability to gather data.
  • Previous accounting experience with applying payments to multiple accounts, and reconciling payments to invoices.
  • Experience with concepts and theory utilized by utilities.
  • Familiar with SAP and/or Adept software.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office environment. Operates a computer and other office equipment for good portion of the day. Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen. Must communicate frequently with other departments and employees both verbally and in writing. May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/ below the knee level or reach above head. Considerable walking on concrete, uneven terrain, and grating. Must climb stairs and work from ladders, platforms, and personal lifts to conduct inspections and make adjustments during emergencies. Good vision required to distinguish colors and numbers when reading gauges, charts, and recorders. Must respond to emergency conditions requiring ability to communicate via phone or radio. Must be able to work various shifts if required. Occasionally exposed to confined/enclosed spaces, dust, coal dust, and inclement weather.

Majority of work is in a temperature-controlled office environment. Must perform site visits to various job and work sites.

Must successfully complete a background check, a substance screening and a physical (if applicable).
