Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
Working with senior traders and the head of Commodities to help support CIBC’s Commodities trading desk. Develop the expertise to initiate new analyses, trade ideas, and thematic strategies with the assistance of lead traders.
How You’ll Succeed
  • Run desk analytics, streamline and automate current processes
  • Utilize Python, VBA and similar programming languages to develop trading strategies and perform historical/time series analysis
  • Serve as back-up to lead traders providing data and information to internal stakeholders
  • Price and manage commodity flow for institutional and corporate clients
  • Working with various stakeholders across front, middle and back office

You can demonstrate experience with:
  • Knowledge of numerical methods / statistical analysis essentials
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of standard programming languages utilized in finance, including python and VBA
  • Strong problem-solving and logic skills and keen attention to detail
  • The candidate must be an intellectually inquisitive, motivated, self-starter that can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of trading systems, back and middle office processes

Conduct and Culture Risk

  • Escalating matters that can result in adverse market practices and outcomes, thereby negatively impacting CIBC’s reputation as a leading financial institution
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of Analyst (USD$115,000 - $135,000) and Associate (USD$150,000 - $170,000) for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
