Peerless Pump Company, a Grundfos subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join its PES Application Engineering team. The Application Engineer will be responsible to provide support to all Sales Offices by supplying pricing, design review & delivery impact for non-standard or Sales Manual items in area of expertise. The Application Engineer will collaborate with sales, project management and production teams. This position reports directly to the Engineering Services Manager and will operate daily out of the Willowbrook Park Drive, Houston Texas facility. facility. This role will be eligible for our hybrid work policy, allowing for a combination of in-office and work from home schedules. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?

  • Review project specifications and determine all technical requirements, costing, etc. for area of expertise.
  • Contact outside vendors for pricing, delivery and technical information on non-standard or Sales Manual items.
  • Read & understand customer specifications
  • Assist Project Management, Market Manager and Engineering in improving Engineered product to reduce costs.
  • Assist Sales & Business Partners when required.
  • Provide Project Manager all generated details pertaining to pricing, delivery schedule, preliminary design information, exceptions quoted to customer specifications, detailed listing of customer specifications reviewed at proposal phase, etc.
  • Utilize Peerless selection software when possible for quoting to standardize quoting process.
  • Maintain quotation log database and develop follow-up procedure to determine job status.
  • Assist in educating field Sales personnel and distribution to reduce errors and provide clean orders.
  • Log and recommend corrections or additions to Peerless selection software and Sales Manual.
  • Review Closed Projects to help determine where margin erosion came from and how to remove on future orders.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to Sales & Business Partner technical request correspondence via phone, mail, fax, e-mail, etc.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Complete special projects as assigned and perform other duties as required.

What do you need to apply?

Qualified candidates will possess a four-year technical or engineering degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment required. Additionally, will have some related work experience to this role.


  • Good communication skills, both oral and written are a must. A strong work ethic is highly important including multitasking ability.
  • Familiarization with computers including: Microsoft Office™ (Excel®, Word®, Access®, Power Point®, Projects®, etc.)
  • AutoCAD (or other drafting tools) and SAP is a plus.
  • Exhibit ability to perform with minimal supervision
  • Ability to produce detailed but concise written work instructions pertaining to customer requirements, production improvements, purchasing assistance, etc.
  • General understanding of principals, construction and application of products in area of expertise.
  • Order Engineering, Project Management and/or Sales position experience is a plus
  • Must be able to travel up to 5% if necessary. Thus candidates should be able to maintain valid identification.
