Knickerbocker Group is seeking a creative and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time Architectural Designer. The Architectural Designer works under the supervision of an assigned Lead Architect to support various architectural design projects. While we would prefer for this individual to work out of our Boothbay office, we will consider a Portland base or remote arrangement for the right candidate.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Complete CAD Drafting of technical drawings and construction documents following Knickerbocker Group Revit/ AutoCad / Sketchup / Photoshop and other program standards and drafting protocols. Continue to increase proficiency with these required programs over time.
  • Complete architectural design, detailing and redlines under the guidance and supervision of the project’s Lead Architect.
  • May serve as design lead on some projects.
  • Use creative skills, imagination, and artistic talent to contemplate each design and make sure our houses/buildings are the best they can possibly be.
  • Translate client goals and desires into functional design plans, collaborating with design team and clientele to develop ideas and produce presentation renderings and finish boards. Design graphics support will include hand drawings as well as computer aided drawings.
  • Travel and visit construction sites to collect measurements and dimensions as needed.
  • Coordinate with the assigned Lead Architect for final sign-off on all decisions regarding design aesthetics, typically with each major client deliverable.
  • Maintain an open items list and design schedule of all current projects for review at weekly project meetings.
  • Collaborate and consult with architects, interior designers, construction managers and field crews, as required to support the design, estimating and construction efforts.

Required education, experience, and technical knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree in architecture required
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in residential architecture preferred; experience in construction a plus
  • Technology Proficiency
    • Microsoft Office Suite required
    • AutoCAD required
    • Revit required
    • Sketch Up, Lumion and Adobe strongly preferred
