Summary

The Academic Support Center Supervisor is primarily responsible supporting daily operations, compiling statistics, assisting with reports, coordinating staff on-boarding, training, and maintaining the department schedule. This is a part-time position located on the Peoria campus with a flexible shift.


This position will be open until filled.

Essential Functions

  • Provide supervision of the Academic Support Center on the Peoria campus in collaboration with the ASC/SI Manager to provide consistent services and resources across campuses.
  • Supervise the scheduling of tutors; both part-time staff and student employees. Support the recruitment, hiring, and training of tutors as required. Edit tutor schedule availability in the online schedule as approved by ASC/SI Manager.
  • Compile statistics of student usage of the Academic Support Center.
  • Prepare and submit reports.
  • Serve as a liaison between writing consultants, tutors, instructors, academic departments and the Academic Support Center. Attends department meetings, workshops, and in-services as appropriate. Conduct classroom visits activities, events, and services to students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the creation of innovative approaches to academic support services by developing and delivering workshops for students and faculty. Develop individualized workshops through collaboration with instructors.
  • Assist with inventory management of the Academic Support Center's learning supplies (such as calculators) with the library to optimize student access. Maintain an updated supply of textbooks, solution manuals, and other learning materials through collaboration with academic departments. Make recommendations for supplies and learning materials to ASC/SI Manager.
  • Collaborate with the ASC/SI Manager to maintain and update the Center's website and other promotional materials to convey a cohesive message.
  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and preparation of ASC materials.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • 5 years of experience in a team lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of academic software and computer hardware.
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills with the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing tutoring or supplemental instruction support.
  • Experience working in a community college environment.
  • Experience supporting developmental learners.
