LIU hosts over 90 different programs in Health Professions across all campuses. The School of Health Professions and Nursing includes programs in social work, health care administration, medical imaging, veterinary medicine, speech pathology, physical therapy, and nutrition, allowing for an inter-professional approach for all students in the School. In addition, our location allows affiliations for clinical placements, practice and research in all major hospital systems in and around the New York metropolitan area. Nursing students and faculty work closely with students from other programs within the SHPN to master collaborative skills necessary for today’s health care professional. In addition, students and faculty utilize our state-of-the-art inter-professional Simulation Center for education and research.

Currently, the School of Health Professions and Nursing seeks visionary nurses to provide leadership for a newly developed undergraduate nursing program as well as our long-standing successful graduate Family Nurse Practitioner program.

The Department of Nursing in the School of Health Professions and Nursing is seeking a full- time, non-tenure track candidate to teach in the CCNE accredited graduate program. This is a 12 month position which includes 24 credits annual teaching. Responsibilities also encompass the instruction, curriculum, assessment, student satisfaction and retention.

Principal Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: teaching graduate courses in the department as assigned; developing course syllabi for the courses assigned to teach and ensuring that they meet college and department standards; p lanning lessons and assignments; participating in outcomes assessment; working with department faculty to develop or modify the curriculum for the programs in the department; assessing students' progress by grading papers, tests, and other work; keeping abreast of changes and innovations in the field; c onducting research to advance knowledge; participating in scholarly activities; p ublishing original research in refereed journals and serving on department, school and university committees.

Applicants are preferred to have an earned doctorate in nursing or doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNP) in related field plus a master's degree in nursing and as board certified nurse practitioner. Applicants must be a licensed and registered nurse practitioner in the State of New York and have a clinical practice and evidence of current and continuing practice; evidence of teaching experience; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to establish priorities and mange time wisely. College-level teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program preferred; credentials at the rank of at least Assistant Professor. Excellent skills in leadership, supervision, written and oral communication skills. Expertise in writing grant proposals and/or conducting research.
