Academy of Art University Athletics serves as the lone art institution in all of NCAA Division II. The Urban Knights teams have made over 45 postseason appearances, including men’s and women’s Cross Country & Track and Field.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Coach for Track and Field to join our amazing Athletics Team. This is a wonderful full-time opportunity that will enable you to combine your passion for sports and education to support our aspiring artists and student-athletes.
The Assistant Coach for Track and Field supports the team by:
Assisting the Director of Track & Field, with all aspects of the Track & Field program during pre-season, season and off-season periods
Maintaining season and off-season workouts with assigned student-athletes
Recruiting, retaining, and graduating successful student-athletes for the Academy of Art University and the Track & Field program (must be certified off-campus recruiter)
Assisting the Director of Track & Field with the individual runner performance evaluation process
Assisting the Director of Cross Country & Track and Field with the Track & Field recruiting program
Developing a competitive regional NCAA Division II Cross Country schedule
Developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge and commitment to follow NCAA and Pacific West Conference rules and regulations
Assisting the Director of Track & Field in providing ongoing oversight of student athlete’s conduct both on and off the field; assisting with conflict resolution, development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty
Ensuring proper supervision of athletes during practice and competition as well as during the travel to and from competition.
Attending assigned college, department and conference meetings as required
Working closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the safety of all student athletes
Operating Academy and/or rental vehicles(s) while completing the above referenced job duties and observe all applicable federal and state motor vehicle laws
Promoting success in academics and athletics
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and at least one year of related professional experience.
First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are required.
Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
Must work effectively with students, faculty, staff and administration.
Must have a valid California driver's license and be insurable with the Academy's provider.
Must ensure that all activities are operated in compliance with NCAA, Pacific West Conference and University rules and regulations.
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for the University .
Compensation: $64,500.00 annual
