Job description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing the centralized accounting functions of the Finance Shared Services Group in order to prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Under the supervision of the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for monitoring accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other business transactions pertaining to company assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting and control.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting Departments
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end accounting close processes
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger including journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
- Administer accounting systems to include NetSuite, Infor Public Sector (IPS), Concur, and J.P. Morgan applications
- Lead NetSuite Change Control Committee and liaise with third-party technical consultants, internal IT staff and internal subject matter experts to implement process improvements and system enhancements
- Participate in the integration of newly acquired companies
- Track and report on departmental KPIs
- Participate in the annual audit process
- Develop, document, and monitor business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field with five+ years of experience in accounting and managing a team of five or more employees. Public accounting experience and CPA accreditation preferred. Experience with NetSuite preferred.
Technical: Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial close, reporting). Proficient knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g. NetSuite).
