The new Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Nashville seeks an Assistant Engineering Manager to join our talented pre-opening team! Don't miss this unique opportunity to be part of the world's leading luxury hotel company!
We are looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager who will support the Director of Engineering overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department. The Assistant Engineering Manager assists in all aspects of hotel and building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating, and respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies. This person will have strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills is able to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation, and can evidence having a solid work ethic, good business acumen and a passion for service. Prior experience in a mixed-use residential hotel is preferred.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, disciplining, and planning of activities of maintenance department staff.
- Participate in the employee performance reviews process.
- Assist in ensuring that effective preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance department.
- Directly supervise staff in carrying out work schedules as well as spot checking to verify quality and employee performance.
- Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools.
- Maintain par stocks and the distribution of items.
- Ensure timely and accurate sub meter, chemical treatment, and engine room logs.
- Handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods, and completing projects.
- Ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the logbook are followed up on when necessary.
- Assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies and manuals.
- Ensure that all meter readings on heat, light and power are taken daily and reviewed for consumption.
- Assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on heat, light, and power to include electricity, gas, steam, and water.
- Set-up fire line safety system, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department.
- Ensure effective communication and good relations between the maintenance department and other departments in the Residence Club.
- Prepare and follow through on any projects as outlined by senior management.
- Ensure all areas of the Residence Club are patrolled and inspected on a regular basis.
- Ensure all maintenance staff are in uniform and well groomed.
- Ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets.
- Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise efficiently with the Engineering Manager on such matters.
- Assume the duties of the Engineering Manager in his/her absence.
- Always conduct oneself in a professional manner to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels and encourage staff to do the same.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction and encouragement as needed.
- Ensure a clean, neat, and organized work area.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings.
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency of safety situation.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management and staff.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- High school education or equivalent experience
- Trade school in mechanics, refrigeration etc.
- A minimum to two to five years of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization.
- Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-Job or through a series of professional certifications.
- Must possess a current license as an Operating Engineer.
- Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment.
- Requires knowledge of blueprints, wiring diagrams and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and speak and write English.
